Chastity Devices

Venetian Gate
In Ancient Egypt, the mere image of a chastity device signified that the person wearing such a device was considered to be that of a slave. Female slaves would wear these devices willingly in order to protect themselves from undesired pregnancies. Everyone seemed to follow their lead as the Ancient Romans did follow this practice yet in general, chastity devices in ancient times were forced onto women due to lack of trust in women to remain loyal.

Ancient China and Improvisation
Ancient China decided to do things differently and thank goodness for that where hygiene is concerned. Imagine the metal chastity belts of the Ancient Egyptian women and what it must have been like to try and keep up with hygiene! Just imagine the stench that must have accumulated! China made chastity devices for their women in the form of wicker baskets for ease of answering the call of nature as well as for keeping regular, good hygiene.

The Usefulness of Blacksmiths
Now we know that eventually locking chastity devices were created and the blacksmiths were the industrious groups of tradesmen that were charged with the task of making lock and key chastity devices. What was very startling to learn is the belt mechanisms that were built into these devices that would maim or completely damage ones genitals should one try and remove the device. Imagine that, along with making them more comfortable with such materials a velvet on the inside, yet these devices were as dangerous as one can imagine to ones reproductive areas on the body. These devices were made this way obviously to use some unsuspecting couple as an example of what can happen if one tries to remove these devices, ones genitals could be maimed or removed altogether.
